In the 22nd century, existence on the planet is founded on a technology known as KA, present in all human bodies. Society is divided into two distinct categories: individuals with biological, mortal bodies and the so-called new humans, whose bodies are bionic. In this setting, we are introduced to Salabardé, an Angolan native of Quimbele. After a workplace accident, his KA suffers irreparable damage. To restore it, he is compelled to transition to a bionic body, forced to relinquish his personal memories to ensure his survival in a company called SUN-KA.
